Opening of a regional workshop on the development of a decent agricultural labor market for young people in the rural areas of the Maghreb (22 December 2017, Rabat)
The General Secretariat of the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU) opened the final regional workshop to present the results of a program on the development of decent agricultural work for youth in the Maghreb region, organized in partnership with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), on 22 December 2017 in Rabat.
Mr. Mesbah Al Mabrouk, Director of the Security Directorate, delivered an opening address on behalf of the Secretary-General of the Arab Maghreb Union, in which he stressed that the issue of youth at the level of Maghreb joint action has been of great importance since the signing of the Marrakech Treaty in 1989. Pointing to the organization of the General Secretariat of many activities and the completion of studies on the situation of young Maghreb, which led to the fact that employment is the most important demand for youth in the countries of the region.
This program has resulted in a number of results: the preparation of a national and regional diagnosis of the agricultural work of youth in rural areas in the Maghreb countries and the initiative of national dialogue among all those involved to find practical solutions to the problem of decent work for young people within the developmental policies in the agricultural field. As well as supporting the capacities of national institutions in charge of developing employment mediation.
It should be noted that this program is part of the partnership between the General Secretariat of the Arab Maghreb Union and FAO, which was launched in 2015.
